Collection and Handling:

             Collection: All swabs must be received in Mycoplasma/viral transport media. 
All other specimens (fluids or tissues) should be received in a sterile container.
Handling:Transport to the laboratory immediately or refrigerate overnight.

Laboratory:

Processing: Freeze specimens at -20°C upon arrival

Outside Laboratory:  Refrigerate swabs in transport media for up to 24  hours;  freeze at - 20°C for longer periods.  Freeze all other specimens in sterile containers at -20°C.  Transport all specimens on ice.
